Book Review: Chained

Chained is the 9th installment of the Brides of the Kindred Series by Evangeline Anderson, and by this book readers are captivated by the universe that Anderson has created (and I say created because I'm almost positive she's not traveled via spaceship to these planets...I said almost, just in case).  In this one we meet Maggie, one scientist who wears glasses and is kind of a klutz.  We've met her before--briefly--when she mixed up the cake at Kat and her Twin Husbands' wedding/bonding ceremony.  And let's just say that chaos then ensued.  So, Xenobiologist Maggie sets out to study the plants on Gaia with a couple of mated Kindred.  A pit stop at Yonnie Six and a slave break later she is thought to be lost, but never fear, Kor, the slave she named and claimed after setting him free comes to the rescue, because let's face it they're destined to be together...right?  Well, obstacle after obstacle leaves you on the edge of your seat as you wonder when the supreme moment will be...I'd tell ya, but I'd hafta kill ya!  Hahaha...I'd tell you, but it is way better if you read it for yourself!  So what are you waiting for?  Pick up Chained today!

Ok, here are some links and a tiny disclaimer!

Disclaimer: I bought this book because it was part of a series that I have enjoyed immensely.  This is an honest review, although pretty vague since there are no stars, etc.  Ratings kind of limit a review, at least in my opinion!  Besides, that's exactly what this is...my opinion!

Book Review!!!

It's been a while since I've done a book review, and for that matter it's been a while since I've read (a book not related to school or work!).  So, as I'm browsing through my eReader I stumble upon Aramus, which is penned by Eve Langlais (Of which it is no secret that she is a fav author of mine) and I just had to read it.  What's interesting is this book features my least favorite cyborg, Aramus, so it took a lot of me talking my self into reading it!  Anyways, here's what I thought:

Langlais does it again in her Cyborg series!  I'm super happy that the female ended up being human, because it was good to see that not all humans are evil!  Aramus was not one of my favorite Cyborgs, actually my least, but after reading this he's moved up in my list--a lot!  I loved Riley, such a sweet girl, but at the same time she's got some sass!  The chemistry between her and Aramus is "asteroid-lava" hot!!!!  I absolutely cannot wait for Seth's story!!!!  I don't do stars, but I did give it 5 stars on Goodreads!

And of course here are some links!

Disclaimer:  I bought this book because I wanted to read it, and I wrote the review because it seemed like a really good idea!

Book Review

Sister Katherine (Nuns of Europa, Book #1)
by: Tracey St. John

This spin-off of the Clans of Kalqour answers some questions about the nuns that were captured when the colony of Europa was acquired by the Kalqourians around book 3 of the Clans of Kalqour series.  I am a big fan of the Clans of Kalqour, so it was a no brainer to read this book.
I enjoyed this book fully and can't wait for the next in the series!  I loved that one of the males in the clan was somewhat small in size compared to the normal Kalqourian.  So, if you're wanting to read about sexy aliens and their Matara, then pick up Sister Katherine!
I promise you won't be disappointed.

Disclaimer:  Read the book and reviewed it with no knowledge from the author.  Just genuinely loved it.

Book Review

Mercenary Abduction by Eve Langlais

(This is book 4 in the Alien Abduction series and is preceded by: Accidental Abduction, Intentional Abduction and Dual Abduction, all of which were pretty dang awesome)

So, picture a purple alien who finds the answer to a mission his aunt decided he should complete for his cousin and discovers the answers to such a prediciment on the very planet he's currently on...A human!

Sent to fetch a nanny for his cousin's demon-possessed child (the kid's not really demon-possessed), Makl is thanking Karma that he runs into a human slave on the auction block, but what good mercenary would purchase a slave fair and square.  Not and ruin his honor and that of his family!  So he abducts her from her new owner and an adventure of a lifetime ensues!

This book is a wild ride of side-cracking humor, red...I mean purple-hot loving and learning to love again!

It was a fantastic read!

Book Review!!

Alright...It's time for a book review!

Counterpoint (Song of the Fallen, #1)
by: Rachel Haimowitz

This is a m/m erotic romance with elves and humans...oh my!

Nitty gritty details:  Humankind is preparing for the surge...a battle between the darkers (animals that are hell-bent on ending humanity) and their survival.  Prince Freyrik is in over his head in preparations for this battle...when he is blindsided by Ayden.
Ayden is an elf who despises humans...he has his reasons, but now he's caught between a rock and a hard place (pun intended) when his sister's welfare depends upon his submission to a race he hates the most...humans.  Can Freyrik and Ayden reach common ground, fall in love, overcome centuries of hate and survive the Surge?

My review:  From the start I was invested in not just one of the heroes lives, but both.  A full range of characters with dynamics that keep you gasping and wanting more.  I truly enjoyed this book and plan on reading its sequel!  If you love m/m, elves and a book that tests the boundaries of good and evil...this is the book for you!

Just a little disclaimer:  Bought the book with my own money, reviewed it cause I wanted to and none of the links give me any cash.

Book Review!!!

Human and Freakn'
by: Eve Langlais

I love this series by Eve Langlais, and Human and Freakn' did not disappoint!

So, Ruth's sister goes missing in the freakn' jungle and she is on a mission to find her!!!  Lucky her she's got the company of two hot wolf shifters who happen to be her...gasp...mate!!!
As funny as I've made this, I must say this is my favorite of the Freakn' shifters series by Eve Langlais.  It is action packed and full of situations where two wolf shifter's vie for one hot, curvy blonde's attention!
I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Book Review!!!!

Devotion by Marie E. Blossom

This book is set in the future, where humans have left Earth and a colony of Arcadia has lived in relative peace for centuries...until the Androids arrive...

This book is a mystery, romance and sci-fi all rolled into one that is sure to leave you breathless and waiting for more.  I fell in love with the two main characters, Zef (H) and Xi (h)!  I loved the entire premise of this book and recommend it to anyone who loves a good sci-fi romance!  The sex scenes are pretty hot too, so that's an added bonus.  I'm hoping that there is a second book in this, and when you meet a very special Android, then you'll know why...So...I can't wait to see what's in store for Arcadia!

Disclaimer:  Bought the book, Loved the book, wrote a review...True story ;)!

Writing a Book Review: The Why! (Post 1 of 3)

Note: This is part one (1) of a three (3) part post about book reviews: They why, the how and the where!

A book review is a critical review of a book, and if you're an avid reader, then you are familiar with book reviews and have read your fair share of book reviews.  Now, some have probably written a review or two, while others haven't written one.  Some wonder how do I write a book review?  Others wonder where do I write a book review, and some of you have come to the right place to answer 'Why should I write a book review?'

Here are a few reasons why you should write a book review...

  1. Exercise your critical writing skills: We learned to write at a very early age, then we took those letters and made words until we could eventually form sentences.  Chances are if you read, then you have a limitless vocabulary in which to utilize in writing a review of your favorite books.
  2. Tell others why they should (or shouldn't) purchase a book:  Lots of people have mad skills at telling other people what to buy, so if you have those mad skills, then get to writing.
  3. Just for fun...Fun?  Well, yeah.  Think about it like this:  I just read an awesome book and I want to tell the world about it!  So why not have fun with it?  Crack a joke-or two!
  4. Make a name for yourself!  Think of all the book review websites that you visit, and think how cool it would be if people wanted you to review their books?  Contacted you for your honest opinion!  The sky is the limit and beyond that?  Outer space!
So, now you're fired up to write reviews!  What next?  The how, of course!  Check in for that post soon!

Book Review!

Shepherd (Phoenix Series, Book 2)
by: K H LeMoyne

Genre:  Sci/Fi Futuristic Romance

General Summary:  A strain of salmonella has pretty much eradicated most of the Earth's population and in its aftermath civilization deteriorates.  Decades later civilization is starting to form once more and the upper crust, or the Regents, are doing bad things...Harvesting organs from children.  This story focuses on Esme and Shepherd.  Esme has recently become a widow, prisoner of the Regents and wife to a Regent all in one epic swoop...She follows her new husband to a secret meeting and when she is found by Shepherd, he takes her prisoner.  But who is prisoner in this tango of love, deceit and passion?  Now, they must work together to save a member of their team whose imminent death is possible!!! (Cue the action music, LOL!)

Reaction:  Oh man!!! There isn't a third book out yet! Drats!  I really enjoyed this book, the second of the Phoenix series that took me deeper into the post-apocalyptic world that was introduced in Rebel's Consort!  Their lives have turned into a grim existence, but love is still alive!  I can not wait for the next book!!!  And from the ending of this one...the next will be AWESOME!!!

Book Review!

Oh yeah, you knew it was coming!

Exiled: Brides of the Kindred, # 7
by: Evangeline Anderson

Background:  Brides of the Kindred centers around a race of genetic traders known as Kindred.

Reaction:  This is an awesome book with lot's of steamy scenes that push the boundaries of the two main characters, Lissa and Saber.  From start to finish, the two are rife with sexual tension that culminates in a way that leaves the main characters hanging on the brink of not having their HEA.  Of course, the other main characters are there and it ends beautifully...So my recommendation: Get this book and devour it from front to back...then repeat! :)

Buy links...Amazon, ARe, Smashwords
Okay, little disclaimer...I bought this book (Got my new debit card!) and wasn't in any way asked to review this book...The thoughts are my own and I must say that Evangeline Anderson is one of my fav authors!

Book Review!

Awesome book that I read last week!

Rebel's Consort by KH LeMoyne

Genre:  Sci/Fi Futuristic Romance

General Summary:  A strain of salmonella has pretty much eradicated most of the Earth's population and in its aftermath civilization deteriorates.  Decades later civilization is starting to form once more and the upper crust, or the Regents, are doing bad things...Harvesting organs from children.  This story focuses on Analena and Trace who come from different positions in this fight, but each want the same thing...the harvesting to stop.  Each have their own reasons and when their lines cross...sparks fly.

Reaction:  Wow!  I enjoyed this one from start to finish!  I recommend this book for any who enjoy dystopian romances, sci/fi, action/adventure.  It is a part of a series so be ready to want to pick up the next book...Shepard!

Buy links: (Cause I hate it when I can't just click and buy! :)!) Amazon, ARe, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords.

Author Website: KH LeMoyne

Just a reminder:  I was in no way asked to review this book for my blog or goodreads.  I purchased said book and read it after stumbling across it on Amazon.  This is my honest opinion!  To put it simply I thought it would be fun to review a book from time to time and I was right...It was fun.
