Whew!!! I almost missed this one!!! But alas here is something to think about next week.

"Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind." - George Orwell

Ahh the power of words!!

Book Review

Sister Katherine (Nuns of Europa, Book #1)
by: Tracey St. John

This spin-off of the Clans of Kalqour answers some questions about the nuns that were captured when the colony of Europa was acquired by the Kalqourians around book 3 of the Clans of Kalqour series.  I am a big fan of the Clans of Kalqour, so it was a no brainer to read this book.
I enjoyed this book fully and can't wait for the next in the series!  I loved that one of the males in the clan was somewhat small in size compared to the normal Kalqourian.  So, if you're wanting to read about sexy aliens and their Matara, then pick up Sister Katherine!
I promise you won't be disappointed.

Disclaimer:  Read the book and reviewed it with no knowledge from the author.  Just genuinely loved it.

Something to Think About

"Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another." - Ernest Hemingway

I am a big fan of Glee, so my heart is heavy this morning knowing that Cory Montieth has passed, though I know he is in a far better place.  Prayers for his family and friends during a devastating time.

Back to School?

As I venture into another chapter of nursing I find myself preparing to go back to school.  It's been ten years since high school and three since nursong school so with a dreaded/excited anticipation I will schedule a couple of online classes for this fall in order to meet the admission requirements for the BSN program next fall.  So, why nursing and not writing?

There are two reasons, and probably many more, one being nursing is a career that I'm just not sure I could give up.  I'm not a social person to begin with and nursing pushes those boundaries and forces me to interact with people who are usually encountering some pretty bad days.  They're hurting, injured, dying, battling an infection or depression and I'm smiling telling them that I will take care of them.  So I need that interaction as much if not more than they do.  Secondly,  I've always viewed writing as my hobby.  Not that it isn't career worthy, but not for me and not right now.  I admire writers that write full time because my mind doesn't stay focused long enough to write thousands of words every day.

For all you going back to school this fall...Good Luck! Just know you aren't alone!

Movies I Recommend!

I'm an avid reader, but I must say there is nothing like waiting in line, paying for a ticket, fighting to buy some coke and popcorn, and finally squeezing into a seat amongst a few dozen strangers all to watch the latest blockbuster!! Haha!
In all seriousness, I absolutely love going to the movies and here are my picks for this Holiday weekend!  Get out there people!!

The Heat
With Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy you can't go wrong!  I couldn't eat the popcorn for fear of choking to death I was laughing so hard!  Think Brideamaids meets Miss Congeniality!  A must see though I'd leave the children at home due to some rather inventive cursing!

This is The End
A comedic take on the Apocalypse and not for the easily offended.  It too was funny with enough surprises to keep you Interested!

Despicable Me 2
One for the whole family complete with minions! I absolutely loved the first one and this one was even better!

White House Down
I thouroughly enjoyed this one because of the constant action!!!! Just a great film that shows sometimes the terrorists are homegrown. Did I mention it's got ChanningTatum? And a president in Air Jordans? (I think that was the tennis shoe he wore!)

So in conclusiom what are you still reading this for...the movies are calling!  Happy Independence Day Weekend!!!!
