An Apple a day...

What would Halloween be without apples?  Halloween without apples, of course!  If you remember from my earlier post about origins of Halloween, then you remember that apples were incorporated into the Halloween  tradition with the meshing of Roman and Celtic holidays.  Pomona, a Roman goddess, was symbolized by the apple, and the Romans had a feast in her honor around the same time the Celts celebrated Samhain.  So naturally it ended up together!

Here is a list of things you can do with apples this Halloween...

  1. Bobbing for apples!
Now the Celts believed that the first to bite into an apple would be the next to marry...It's not true (I promise!)
  2. Apple Pie (Yum!)
  3. Apple Cider
  4. Candy Apples
  5. Apple Butter
  6. Apple Sauce
  7. Apple Cake
  8. Apple Crumb
  9. Apple Pancakes
  10. Apple Bread
The list goes on and on and you can find all the recipes listed here: Allrecipes
